Arq the Coldblooded
When Arq appears before a meeting of Steel Cohort officers to make a speech, his audience shudders: some from fear, some – from rapture. But nobody remains unmoved when they gaze upon his majestic and menacing countenance. This is a man that has taken a huge burden upon his broad shoulders – to lead his people through rebellion and fratricidal war to a bright future.
Arq’s convictions are strong, like the mountains of the Equilibrium Range. A follower of old imperial traditions, he remained loyal to these traditions even after the fall of the deceitful Arqons, before whom he bowed down at one time. The Arqons are no longer around, but there are people that have to survive in the cruel world of Haradan, and that is what is most important to him. Arq sees only one road to salvation – and that is the construction of a conservative, militarized society governed by officers from the Steel Cohort, who are able to repel attacks from the Devourers, which get more daring every day. He will create this society and he is ready to sacrifice his own life and the lives of others to do so.
Arq is a daring warrior and he takes advantage of all the opportunities of his Juggernaut to expertly defeat enemies and leave mounds of hacked bodies in his wake. During decisive battles he leads the warriors of the Steel Cohort to victory by breaking through the enemy’s defenses. When the time comes to work with his head rather than his sword, he becomes a wide and farsighted strategist capable of calculating moves far in advance and amazing his experienced commanders with his insight.
This surprising person is always in control of himself, his voice always remains even and calm, even at the tensest of moments and his steely grey eyes penetrate those he speaks to, causing them to shiver in fear. And there is much to fear, Arq is one of the cruelest and unflinching rulers that Haradan has ever known. For the sake of his convictions the leader of the «Steel Cohort» is ready to do everything and anything and destroy all opposition with cold steel.
For Arq, any means can be used to achieve his aim – victory over the Free League and the Devourers. Coldblooded and crafty, he became this way for the sake of the future of humanity. In the name of a bright tomorrow he has taken up arms against his own brother, who is the leader of the enemy camp. Convinced that Kraen’s actions and ideas will lead Haradan to destruction, Arq is ready to sink his steel into his brother’s chest if this will help him achieve his target.
Arq is considered heartless, but his inner self is hidden from the outside world. Has he been able to endure the treachery of the Arqons, whom he deified from childhood, and war with his own brother? Who knows what suffering lies under his mask of cool composure? What is the unshakeable lord thinking about when he gazes pensively into the misty distance?
